The Cleveland Monster killed himself
COLUMBUS (Ohio) – The Cleveland monster has taken his own life in prison. Ariel Castro, the man who had kept three women segregated in his house for almost ten years by subjecting them to all kinds of violence, hanged himself in his cell at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient, Ohio.
On 1 August, 53-year-old Castro had been charges for 937 counts of charges including kidnapping and rape. His three victims had disappeared between 2002 and 2004, when they were 14, 16 and 20 years old. Since then they had been held captive in the man’s home in Cleveland. They had managed to escape only last May. Together with the three women in the house there was a six-year-old girl, turned out to be Castro’s daughter .
The former school bus driver was held in isolation because of his own safety and the agents controlled him every 30 minutes. He was found hanged at 9:20 pm local time yesterday. The doctors of the penitentiary tried resuscitation, but to no avail. The man was transported to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 10:52 pm.
