NEW DELHI – A UN helicopter crashed in Nepal, in the Ramchep district. At least ten people died. Local police reported this, quoted by the Indian media.

According to preliminary reports, the aircraft carrying UN personnel engaged in monitoring the delivery of weapons by Maoist rebels, would have ended up against a hill near the village of Berthan, not far from Kathmandu, due to bad weather. The radio contact with the helicopter was already lost in the late morning.
Witnesses told police that they saw the helicopter crash and explode.

Ramchep police said they had found ten bodies from the site of the accident, but the exact number of occupants has not yet been established, nor has their nationality been disclosed so far.
