Struck buildings of British headquarters
ISTANBUL – Five explosions devastated Istanbul this morning, at least three people died but many were injured. Less than a week after the attacks on the synagogues, the Turkish city is once again at war. The objectives, the British consulate, an English bank, a commercial zone, immediately brings to mind the Al Qaeda terrorist network.
But for the moment chaos reigns: all areas are very busy; journalists try to get information from people who were close to the area of the explosion. A teacher who works at a school near the headquarters of the consulate told CNN “There is total chaos, no one knows what is happening, a lot of glass has been destroyed, the cars are badly damaged and there are bleeding people running away” .
Part of the British consulate building would have collapsed. The deaths for now verified would have been in the building of the British bank HSBC, partially destroyed by the explosion. Also hit a shopping center in the residential area of the city.
According to Israeli radio, one of the explosions would have hit Israel’s consulate in Istanbul.
